An Advance Diploma in Textile Design is all about learning the basics of Indian textiles, their making and origin and learning the techniques through practical experience. The course is beneficial in preparing students to enter the design profession in a variety of areas such as self-employed designer-maker, designer within an industry, buyer, stylist, technologist, and design journalism, as well as entry into M.A. level courses.

The course is beneficial for exploring design and creativity as well as developing technical and sustainability knowledge as well as digital media skills for transforming textile concepts into marketable goods.

Roles and Responsibilities of a Textile Designer

  • Conceptualizing and creating original textile designs that align with market trends, client requirements, and brand aesthetics
  • Conducting research to gather inspiration and stay updated on the latest textile trends, techniques, and technologies
  • Developing and maintaining a library of design samples, swatches, and color palettes for reference and presentation purposes
  • Collaborating with clients, manufacturers, and other team members to understand design briefs, discuss design options, and incorporate feedback into design iterations
  • Creating detailed technical specifications, design sketches, and color renderings to communicate design concepts to manufacturers and ensure accurate production
  • Selecting appropriate fabrics, color dyes, and printing techniques based on design requirements and budget considerations
  • Overseeing the production process, including sample development, fabric printing, color matching, and quality control, to ensure that the final product meets design specifications and standards
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry regulations and sustainability practices, such as eco-friendly materials, ethical sourcing, and waste reduction, and incorporating them into design processes wherever possible

Mayur also decided to share his knowledge with a new generation of interior designers by starting to teach in the field. He is a staunch believer of how theoretical and practical knowledge go hand in hand. He has an academic experience of 9 years and has taught more than 3000 students till date. Anurag has been a Designer / Production Supervisor in multiple export houses with field experience of 5 years. Having a profession in designing and technical education in textile field, producing designs and samples for presentation as well as making the sets for sample designs are part of my career. Patternmaking and Graphic designs are well within my strong suit.

Jayashree Patil

She’s a fashion designer with her specialisation in apparel merchandising. She has worked with apparel production houses for 2 years. Where she learnt to understand & studied the supply chain of the industry. As our country holds a vast history of culture and art, Jayashree has been training and guiding more than 500 students to polish their practical skills along with their theoretical knowledge.
